    She works at Mineral and Energy Economy Research Institute, Polish Academy of Sciences. Cooperates with AGH-University of Science and Technology, Kraków, as a lecturer, supervisor of Msc. and Ph.Theses on geothermal topics. Chairperson of the Polish Geothermal Society since 2006. IGA BoD member in 2016-2020 and some earlier terms. Member of Advisory BoD, Chief Geologist of Poland. Member of IGA Steering Committees of WGC2010 and WGC2015 (short courses). The graduate and visiting lecturer at the UNU Geothermal Training Programme, Iceland. Involved in geothermal research, development, education in Poland for many years. Member of a team which operated the first in Poland Experimental Geothermal Plant (that paved the way for large geothermal district heating in the Podhale region, other localities and uses in the country). Author and co-author of many papers, monographs, reports, etc. related to geothermal. For several years involved (with other persons from both sides) in efforts to initiate Polish–Icelandic cooperation on geothermal and including it into the scope of EEA and Nordic funds.


    Abstract:

    The presentation will give an insight into geothermal resources in Poland, current uses (focus on district heating) and development prospects especially aimed at the limitation of atmosphere pollution and climate protection. The need to adopt good practice cases to Polish conditions will be highlighted. These will include the relevant Icelandic experiences and know-how, the role in building own highly skilled manpower thanks to UNU-GTP and other programs, the-so-far bilateral projects, and prospects for further cooperation in the framework of EEA and NF mechanisms.
