Jonas KetilssonDeputy Director General at Orkustofnun

    Jonas Ketilsson is the Deputy Director General and team leader for geothermal, district heating and EEA Grants within Orkustofnun, the National Energy Authority of Iceland. He has worked for the institution since year 2007 and has been involved in EEA Grants since year 2011. He holds a master and undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering and an undergraduate degree in geophysics. In his studies, he focused on reservoir engineering. After graduating he has specialized in public administration of energy affairs through his work at Orkustofnun.


    Abstract:

    The principal challenge and obstacles of financing geothermal based district heating through EEA Grants will be discussed and government tools developed to overcome those political challenges will be presented. How can the industry bring forward the possible contribution geothermal district heating can have so to positively effect the financial stream for both innovation and deployment of green solutions through current financial mechanisms like EEA Grants?
