Hendrik TómassonSmart System Development at Veitur ohf

My name is Hendrik Tómasson. I’m leading the smart system development at Veitur Ohf. My work includes data analysis and data manipulation for the utility system (Electrical, Heating, Sewage and cold water). I look into new solutions to get the data and try to observe how the data is useful in the future. My mission is to minimize waste and improve the automation in the system with a focus on the data behind the system.  I have a M.s.c. in electrical engineering and B.s.c in Mechatronic engineering from Reykjavík University. My experience from university is in the field of electronics and machine learning. My professional career has been built up by working in the control system area of utilities, aluminium plants, Offshore oil platforms and the fishing industry. I love to look outside the box in solutions.

    Abstract:

Using smart technologies to monitor conditions of deep well pumping stations.

I will cover how deep wells are monitored today and how we want to observe the wells in the future. We have started a project to test new methods to monitor the wells with the aim to minimize waste in our workforce and our equipment. How are we trying to make sure our system runs in a safe manner while we try to get more information about our system.  We can look at it as a mix of 3rd and 4th industrial revolution in the monitoring of deep well pumping stations. We look into how we want to minimize the waste in electricity with better controls. What can we do more than, the typical mechanic when he monitors the deep well. What information is useful?.
